About Montgomery County Methadone Center

The Montgomery County Methadone Center provides medication-assisted treatment, recovery support, and behavioral health services to individuals working to overcome substance use challenges. Through person-centered care and evidence-based practices, the program helps individuals build recovery skills, strengthen support systems, and achieve long-term wellness.

What You'll Do

As a Recovery Specialist, you will:

• Serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator for individuals in recovery
• Share appropriate recovery experiences to foster authentic peer support relationships
• Provide recovery support services, education, and advocacy
• Assist individuals in identifying strengths and using personal assets to advance recovery goals
• Support person-centered interventions and recovery planning
• Connect individuals with community resources, natural supports, and mutual aid groups such as NA and AA
• Provide relapse prevention education and recovery-focused guidance
• Facilitate engagement in treatment and recovery services
• Educate family members, staff, and participants on recovery-oriented practices
• Complete service documentation in accordance with agency standards and timelines
• Participate in community outreach activities and local program engagement efforts

Qualifications

Required

• Must self-identify as an individual with a serious mental illness who is currently or formerly a recipient of mental health services and/or substance use recovery services
• Valid Pennsylvania Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) Certification
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals in mental health recovery
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to travel locally for community outreach and engagement activities
• ACT 33/34 clearances, if required by program
• Pennsylvania PATCH clearance

Preferred

• Experience working in medication-assisted treatment or substance use treatment settings
• Knowledge of community resources within Montgomery County
• Experience facilitating recovery groups or peer support services
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Schedule

• Full-Time
• Early Morning Schedule: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
• On-Site Position
• Some local travel required for program outreach and community engagement
• Schedule subject to change based on program needs

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and perform routine physical job duties
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch, reach, and climb stairs as needed
• Ability to travel throughout the community for outreach activities
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
