Within this context, you will be working at the Maizières Process Research Centre, located in Maizières-lès-Metz, France. Our mission is to enhance the competitiveness of ArcelorMittal’s production lines through the development and continuous improvement of innovative processes and processing routes.
As part of the Primary Department, our objective is to address the needs of our operations, including mineral processing, upstream and downstream steelmaking activities, product quality, and transversal support entities. We achieve this by delivering value-added solutions through the development of new technologies, the implementation of standard solutions, support by technical assistance, while strengthening our technical knowledge and expertise.
Your role
As Team Leader of the Blast Furnace & DRI Section within the Primary Department, you will lead a team of 14 researchers and engineers dedicated to supporting the evolution of ironmaking technologies and the transition toward low-carbon steelmaking.
You will ensure the application of the highest standards of safety in our laboratory and plant activities. Research excellence, innovation and project management are key components of the mission as well as ensuring alignment with business and decarbonization objectives.
Main Responsibilities:
- Promote exemplarity and ensure the highest standards of safety.
- Ensure Team’s full compliance with the requirements of the Quality Management System.
- Lead and manage the section with an entrepreneurial mindset and aligning activities with the guidelines defined by the Head of the Primary Department.
- Define short- and medium-term resource needs, including personnel, competencies, and infrastructure, to support the section's ambitions and project portfolio.
- Develop the team's capabilities by promoting both technical expertise and leadership skills, while creating an engaging environment that encourages learning, collaboration, and innovation.
- Contribute actively to the company's decarbonization strategy, supporting the development and implementation of new technological solutions.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external networks with industrial sites, research partners, universities, and technology providers to enhance innovation and knowledge sharing.
Your profile
- You hold a Master's degree related to the field of Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry and/or Metallurgy.
- You have skills in blast furnace/metallurgy.
- You have significant industrial experience and team management experience. Experience in R&D applied to industrial context is a plus.
- You have simulation skills (DEM and/or CFD).
- You are fluent in French and in English.
- You have the capability to work in a multicultural environment.
- You are a team player, with ability for networking and interaction with R&D and plants people.
- You are able to propose new solutions, innovative and results oriented.

Within this context, you will be working for Maizières Process research centre located in Maizières-lès-Metz (France) which main mission is to contribute to ArcelorMittal’s production lines competitiveness and sustainability by the development or improvement of innovative processes or processing routes (from Ironmaking to metallic coating). The objectives of the laboratory are answering the needs of our operations (mineral processing, steel upstream operations, steel downstream operations, product quality, transversal issues). We are able to offer new technologies, standard solutions, technical assistances and knowledge building.
