Staff Software Engineer, Data Integrations

What we're looking for:

We need a Staff Software Engineer with 10+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems at scale who has deep expertise in data pipelines, durable orchestration, and production infrastructure. You should be comfortable setting technical direction for a platform team, making pragmatic architectural decisions under real constraints, and mentoring senior engineers. Bonus points if you have healthcare integrations experience (HL7 v2, FHIR, Epic, Cerner) or familiarity with HIPAA/SOC 2 compliance.

What you'll do:

Set the technical direction for Commure's Data Integrations platform, deciding what we build and how we execute as we scale toward enterprise customers

Own the architecture of systems that move clinical and financial data between Commure and hundreds of external healthcare endpoints — orchestration layers (Temporal), pipelines, and data stores

Anticipate scaling and reliability challenges two to four quarters out and get ahead of them before they become incidents

Set and enforce the bar for observability and operational readiness including monitoring, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerting, SLOs, and safe production rollouts

Own complex, cross-system initiatives end to end — from architecture and design through implementation, migration, rollout, and production operations

Work hand-in-hand with platform and product teams to protect sensitive customer data, tighten security boundaries, and maintain regulatory compliance

Mentor Senior and Staff engineers, run architecture and design reviews, and raise the technical bar through clear direction and honest feedback
