GENERAL SUMMARY: Powder coat parts while maintaining quality, safety and productivity requirements. Maintain and clean paint booth and powder application equipment.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply powder coating using various powder application equipment as directed by supervisor.
  • Adjust equipment to maintain required thickness of powder application.
  • Prepare surfaces of parts for powder application by using various methods; i.e., cleaning, sanding, masking, caulking, etc.
  • Load and unload parts.
  • Maintain and clean paint booth and powder application equipment.
  • Maintain quality, safety and productivity.
  • Maintain clean and neat work area.
  • Report labor and job data accurately.
  • Perform other jobs within the department or plant as required by supervision.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Complete Company forklift training program.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is beneficial.

SKILLS:

A good command of the English language is required, both written and spoken. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must complete powder coating training and demonstrate good application technique. Ability to read prints and other specification documentation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to physically perform essential functions of the job. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 34 lbs. and frequently up to 50 lbs. Typically requires standing on a regular basis, and moving around work area, stooping, crouching and kneeling frequently, crawling, reaching and handling items with hands occasionally. May require use of a ladder. Specific vision requirements include depth perception, color vision and peripheral vision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequently exposed to noise, odors, chemicals, dust and vibration. Typically requires the use of air tools and various powder application equipment. Hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes with metatarsal protection, painter’s air hood, respirator and gloves are required.
