We are looking for a talented Engine Workshop/Field Service Technician – Apprentice to join our team in Zambia, supporting workshop and service operations through quality diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and technical support on customer equipment and vehicles.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Support efficient workshop operations by assisting with general workshop activities and contributing to the timely completion of service and maintenance tasks.
  • Develop technical knowledge and practical skills through structured on-the-job training and Cummins technician curriculum programs, building a strong foundation for future growth.
  • Assist with cleaning, inspecting, disassembling, and other basic workshop activities to help maintain equipment quality and readiness for repair processes.
  • Contribute to high-quality maintenance outcomes by learning and applying Standard Repair Times (SRTs), established procedures, and service guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of work documentation, timesheets, and system records to support operational efficiency and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by caring for tools, equipment, and work areas, helping to maximize productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and legislative requirements at all times.
  • Support continuous improvement within the workshop by proactively identifying and reporting issues, incidents, and potential risks to supervisors, helping to enhance operational performance and safety.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to accurately identify faults, interpret customer concerns, utilize electronic service tools, and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Sound mechanical and electrical knowledge with the ability to apply industry standards, safe work practices, and technical principles when maintaining and repairing equipment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic service tools and technology to diagnose issues, interpret data, and support efficient service and maintenance activities.
  • Attention to detail, safety, and quality to complete repairs within standard repair times, maintain accurate documentation, follow procedures, and deliver reliable outcomes for customers.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Drivers License
  • Craft Certificate or better in a related field, including:

    • Diesel Mechanics
    • Automotive Engineering
    • Heavy Equipment Repair
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Auto Electrical
    • Power Electrical
    • Industrial Mechanics
