Emerson T&M Group(NI) Application Engineers ensure customer success at strategic accounts by demonstrating strong technical aptitude and professional engineering skills. They provide innovative solutions, deliver projects, and become trusted technical partners for customers.
This role requires deep semiconductor industry knowledge, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work directly with customers to address complex engineering challenges.
We are seeking an experienced engineer with a strong background in mixed-signal semiconductor testing and validation. Experience in optical communication, silicon photonics, optical modules, or high-speed interface applications is highly preferred.
- Partner with Sales to win opportunities by achieving key support objectives for assigned accounts and projects, including project delivery, issue resolution, and customer proficiency development.
- Identify technical and project risks ahead of deployment and drive execution plans to meet customer timelines.
- Demonstrate troubleshooting expertise to resolve customer issues and provide clear updates on progress, findings, and next actions.
- Manage technical activities throughout project deployment, validation, production ramp, and sustaining phases.
- Deliver technical solutions that meet customer requirements using NI systems, software, and services.
Provide Semiconductor Automated Test Technical Leadership
- Develop, debug, and validate test programs using NI software and hardware platforms to solve customer test challenges in mixed-signal semiconductor applications.
- Support characterization, validation, and production deployment activities for analog and mixed-signal devices.
- Design and integrate test systems using PXI instrumentation, including SMU, digitizer, digital I/O, oscilloscope, switching, and timing modules.
- Design sophisticated analog and digital test interfaces to implement signal conditioning, switching, filtering, signal conversion, and measurement functions.
- Support measurement correlation, test optimization, and production debug activities.
- Provide technical consultation on mixed-signal test methodologies and semiconductor test architectures.
- Develop competitive analyses and technology comparisons based on semiconductor test and measurement industry knowledge.
Support Optical Communication Applications
- Maintain awareness of optical communication industry trends, emerging technologies, and related testing challenges.
- Understand test requirements for optical modules, transceivers, silicon photonics, optical interconnects, and related applications.
- Develop automated validation and production test solutions for electrical and optical measurements.
- Support integration of optical instruments and high-speed measurement equipment into automated test systems.
Contribute to Customer Success
- Build strong technical relationships with customer engineering teams.
- Serve as a trusted technical resource for customers and account teams.
- Represent the voice of the customer by communicating application requirements and market needs to internal stakeholders.
- Support development of reusable architectures, application examples, and technical best practices.
- Help bridge customer requirements with NI semiconductor solutions and offerings.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Relevant semiconductor industry experience in mixed-signal IC validation, characterization, product engineering, or automated test.
- Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal test methodologies.
- Experience developing test programs, supporting production deployment, and resolving manufacturing test issues.
- Experience in one or more of the following application areas:
- Optical communication and/or optoelectronic device testing
- Sensor or MEMS testing
- PMIC testing
- Mixed-signal SoC validation
- ADC/DAC testing
- IPD testing
- Experience using common test and measurement instruments, including:
- SMU
- Oscilloscope
- Digitizer
- Arbitrary Waveform Generator
- Power Meter
- Switching Systems
- Vector Network Analyzer (VNA)
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
- Experience in optical communication, silicon photonics, optical transceivers, optical modules, or related photonic applications.
- Familiarity with optical test equipment such as optical power meters, BER testers, optical switches, and optical spectrum analyzers.
- Experience with NI PXI platforms and NI software such as LabVIEW, TestStand, or Semiconductor Test System.
- Experience with programming languages such as LabVIEW, Python, C#, or C++.
- Experience with semiconductor ATE platforms including V93000, UltraFlex, J750, PAx, or Diamondx.
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing environments, including ATE, handlers, probers, wafer-level test, final test, and production deployment.
- Strong project management skills with a sense of urgency and accountability for project delivery.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, sales teams, and cross-functional engineering organizations.
