About this role

We are looking for a Head of Infrastructure with 5+ years of experience to own the entire capital development function — permitting, construction, contractor management, and facility execution — at a fusion energy company building the last energy source humanity will ever need. You'll report directly to the CEO and be responsible for finishing our flagship San Leandro facility, supporting our Albuquerque radiation testing buildout, and leading greenfield development of a first-of-its-kind fusion plant.

What will you be doing?

Own all permitting, construction, and regulatory navigation for facilities across San Leandro, Albuquerque, and future fusion plant sites — finding the fastest compliant path forward

Manage contractors and vendors end-to-end: sourcing, contracting, coordinating, and driving accountability across multiple simultaneous projects

Lead facility buildouts for machine installations (including large-scale oil tanks, machine shops, and generator housing for Titan II)

Build and manage the supply chain for custom components (e.g., capacitors), including evaluating domestic and international manufacturing options

Hire and grow an infrastructure team (3+ people within six months) as the capital project portfolio scales

Key Requirements

Track record shipping large-scale capital projects at high-velocity or startup environments — built infrastructure from 0 to 1, not inherited existing systems

Strong understanding of building codes, fire codes, zoning, and environmental regulations with experience navigating permitting across multiple jurisdictions

Engineering background (civil engineering strongly preferred) with ability to read and evaluate structural, MEP, and technical designs

Doer mentality — finds creative shortcuts through bureaucracy rather than following every step by the book; startup or entrepreneurial company experience required

Must be on-site 5 days/week in San Leandro, CA and meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident)
