The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking to hire an experienced Academic Advisor III

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The ideal candidate for this position will perform all duties of a full-service professional academic advisor, including facilitating academic program development, advising students, and interpreting and implementing university policies and procedures. They will provide administrative support to department undergraduate directors for course substitutions, petitions, and permissions, and support advisement related events and data needs from Navigate. Additionally, Academic Advisor III will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Banner, and have experience with programs such as Argos, Degree Works, and Navigate.
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Academic Advisor III are the following:
· Evaluates and maintains student records for degree requirements.
· Monitors student registration, academic performance, and progress.
· Communicate with students about course scheduling, requirements, and resources.
· Tracks retention, progression, and graduation of students.
· Provides administrative support for course substitutions, petitions, and permissions. Processes registration permissions in Banner.
· Supports advisement events and data needs.
· Mentors and trains staff; coordinates advisement training and special programs.
· Perform other related duties and special projects assigned.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and either 1) 6 months experience as “Academic Advisor II” at GSU (University Advisement Center or other GSU advising department) or 2) five years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
