Your impact
As a Metallurgy Technician, you'll support safe and efficient laboratory operations by preparing samples, conducting routine testing and generating reliable analytical results that help optimise processing performance. Working closely with operational and laboratory teams, you'll contribute to quality, safety and continuous improvement outcomes while building your technical capability within Newmont's Metallurgy function.
As part of our team, you will
- Prepare and handle samples, laboratory equipment and analytical apparatus in accordance with approved Safe Work Instructions.
- Perform routine laboratory activities and testing to support metallurgical and geometallurgical operations.
- Participate in Gold In Circuit surveys and other sampling programs to provide accurate operational data.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, housekeeping and compliance across all laboratory activities.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory and processing teams to support daily operations, continuous improvement initiatives and departmental objectives.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
• Minimum Grade 12 education, preferably with a science background; tertiary studies in a relevant discipline will be advantageous.
• A willingness to learn laboratory processes, metallurgical testing methods and safe work practices.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and reliable results.
• Basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to work safely in an operational environment, including extended periods of standing and regular plant-based sample collection activities.
Your work environment
Reporting to the Supervisor - Metallurgy Laboratory, you'll work closely with the Geometallurgy Team, Metallurgy Production Team, Assay Laboratory and Process Plant Operations teams. This is a permanent position and an individual contributor role supporting daily laboratory and operational activities.
