About this role
Quality technician activities supporting quality assurance, inspection, laboratory testing, and continuous compliance of in-process products and finished goods with industry standards, NOV Inc. procedures, and customer requirements. This role also provides technical support and cross-training assistance to other inspectors to promote consistent inspection practices and right-first-time results.
Responsibilities
- Understanding of quality concepts in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and similar equipment
- Inspect, reject or accept product according to visual standard, weight, tally and other Q.C. requirements
- Assist with investigations of non-conformances, corrective actions, audits, and process improvement activities as assigned
- Assist with training, qualification, and cross-training of inspectors to ensure consistent application of quality requirements
- Support other quality technicians with inspection methods, measuring equipment, test requirements, and interpretation of applicable standards and procedures
- Perform approved quality laboratory activities and testing, maintain laboratory records, and communicate results to the appropriate stakeholders
- Perform quality assurance activities, including review of inspection and test results, identification of process risks, and follow-up on quality issues
- Maintain accurate inspection, test, laboratory, calibration, and quality assurance records
- Control the removal of monogram from non-conforming product
- Wear appropriate PPE
- Comply with all NOV Company policies, guidelines and procedures
- Comply with all HSE policies, guidelines and procedures
- Comply with all Quality policies, guidelines and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
Three years of verifiable work experience, preferred in manufacturing environment
- Trained into API Q1 and ISO 9001
- Basic math
- Ability to accurately use inspection, measurement, laboratory, and test equipment, including scales, OD tape, rulers, thread height gauges, and related instruments
- Ability to adapt, cross-train, and support other inspectors in learning and consistently performing required job duties
- Ability to learn and apply inspection, quality assurance, laboratory, testing, repair, and assembly guidelines and procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read drawings, instructions or repair and assembly operations
