Overview
The Manager, Club Technology is responsible for the strategy, delivery, support, and continuous improvement of technology solutions that power Planet Fitness club operations. This role partners closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, franchisees, and third-party vendors to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that enhance member experiences, simplify operations, and support business growth.
The Manager, Club Technology leads cross-functional and matrixed teams across multiple programs and disciplines, providing oversight of club technology platforms, system integrations, and enterprise technology initiatives. This role serves as a key liaison between business and technical stakeholders, ensuring technology solutions align with operational priorities, franchisee needs, and long-term business objectives.
This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Boston, MA or Hampton, NH office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role.
Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Solution Delivery
- Leads the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of club technology platforms and associated solutions supporting club operations.
- Partners with Product and Engineering teams to develop and execute technology roadmaps aligned with business priorities, franchisee needs, and operational requirements.
- Drives the design, development, and deployment of club technology solutions, including initiatives supporting international growth.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for assigned systems, integrations, and club technology platforms.
- Ensures solutions are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards and industry best practices.
Program & Portfolio Management
- Leads complex technology programs from planning through implementation and ongoing support.
- Manages program schedules, budgets, risks, dependencies, and enterprise release planning activities.
- Ensures programs adhere to Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards, governance requirements, and compliance expectations.
- Promotes visibility into program roadmaps, priorities, and technical backlogs to ensure alignment across teams.
- Provides executive updates, escalation management, and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Partners closely with Operations to ensure club and franchisee needs are represented in technology roadmaps and solution design.
- Collaborates with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Finance, and Operations teams to align priorities and deliver business outcomes.
- Builds and manages relationships with franchisees, vendors, and technology partners to support successful solution delivery and adoption.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for technology initiatives impacting club operations and franchisee experience.
- Facilitates stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, communication, and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Leads the design and implementation of in-club technology solutions that enhance member experiences, improve profitability, and simplify operations.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system performance, operational efficiency, and user experience.
- Supports release readiness, deployment planning, issue resolution, and post-implementation reviews across distributed locations.
- Establishes and monitors performance measures to evaluate solution effectiveness and identify optimization opportunities.
- Fosters accountability, collaboration, and ownership across cross-functional project teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience, required
- 5+ years of experience leading complex cross-functional technology programs, initiatives, or business systems projects
- Experience managing technology roadmaps, releases, integrations, and enterprise-wide system implementations
- Knowledge of POS systems, payment technologies, back-office applications, and multi-location operational environments
- Experience supporting technology deployments across retail, franchise, hospitality, fitness, restaurant, or other consumer-facing environments
- Experience managing vendor relationships, technology partners, and third-party service providers
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, SDLC practices, system integrations, software testing, and enterprise applications
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience leading matrixed teams.
- Exposure to international technology initiatives, franchisee environments, or global stakeholder groups preferred
- PMP, CSM, SAFe, or similar certifications preferred
- Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
- Excellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
- Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization

The salary for MA-based and NH-based employees hired into this role will be aligned with the range below. This is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with a candidate’s professional experience, qualifications and internal equity.
Annual Base Salary Range: $140,000-$165,000
This role is also eligible to participate in an annual corporate bonus incentive program based on company financial and personal performance.
