About this role
Valencia, California – Hybrid (Minimum Three Days Onsite)
Senior Electrical Engineer
Join Advanced Bionics, a Sonova company, and help develop the electronic hardware behind innovative Class III medical devices. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work independently as an individual contributor while partnering closely with an experienced engineering team across design, documentation, verification, validation, testing and sustaining activities.
This role is ideal for a broad electrical and electronics engineering generalist who can support the remaining work on a current product program, learn the system and help create capacity for the team’s next development effort.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, implement, troubleshoot and validate electromechanical systems for commercial release in a Class III medical device environment.
- Take ownership of documentation, verification, validation and testing activities for the current product program while developing a strong understanding of the system.
- Design and troubleshoot electronic solutions involving analog, digital and power systems, including circuit-board design and layout.
- Ensure electrical designs, documentation and development processes comply with applicable industry standards and internal quality-system requirements.
- Partner with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing and external vendors to balance technical requirements, performance, schedule and cost.
- Participate in technical reviews, identify project risks and technical issues and help develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Work independently while maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout all phases of development.
More about you:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
- Approximately three to five years of relevant electrical or electronics engineering experience, with the ability to operate independently at or near the senior-engineer level.
- Broad, hands-on experience across analog, digital and power electronics rather than a narrow specialization.
- Experience with basic electronic design, circuit-board design and layout, hardware debugging, testing, verification and validation.
- Ability to work effectively in a regulated, cross-functional product-development environment.
- Strong technical judgment, problem-solving skills and clear communication with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
- Programming experience, particularly Python or a similar language used for test automation, is helpful but not required.
A minimum of 300Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload-speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote or hybrid employee functionality at Sonova.
