Job Summary
As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will support engineers and designers working on the analysis, design, detailing, assessment, and rehabilitation of building and infrastructure systems. You will gain hands-on exposure to structural materials, calculations, modeling tools, construction documents, field conditions, multidisciplinary coordination, and project delivery while contributing to active assignments with guidance from experienced professionals.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with structural calculations, models, drawings, details, reports, and other project documentation.
- Support the analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and related structural systems.
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, field observations, and coordination with design and construction teams.
What You’ll Learn
- How structural engineering principles, load paths, materials, codes, and technical standards are applied to real projects.
- How calculations, models, drawings, details, and construction-phase documentation are developed and reviewed.
- How structural engineers coordinate with architects, civil, MEP, geotechnical, contractor, and other project partners.
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of relevant coursework in statics, mechanics of materials, structural analysis, or design.
- Basic understanding of structural systems and engineering calculations.
- Basic proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or structural analysis tools and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Internship, co-op, research, or project experience related to structural engineering.
- Familiarity with RISA, RAM, Mathcad, or similar analysis and design software.
- Involvement in ASCE, SEI, or related engineering organizations.
