Job Purpose:

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the design and development of high-precision mechanical components and assemblies for advanced thin-film deposition and vapor jet printing systems. Working under guidance, the intern will contribute to prototyping, testing, and integration efforts, gaining hands-on experience across the product lifecycle while helping ensure mechanical reliability and innovation in next-generation technologies.


Key Responsibilities:

Assist in Design & Modeling

  • Create or modify 3D CAD models and 2D drawings Cad tool using tools like SolidWorks

  • Support design reviews and help implement design changes.

Prototype Development

  • Help build and test prototypes.

  • Assist in selection, RFQ & purchase of materials and components.

Testing and Analysis

  • Conduct mechanical tests (e.g., leak test, thermal analysis, calibration & Functional checks)

  • Collect and analyze data to validate designs.

Documentation

  • Prepare engineering documentation such as BOMs, test reports, and assembly instructions.

  • Maintain revision control and update drawings/specs.

Research and Development

  • Perform literature reviews or benchmarking studies.

  • Support feasibility studies and concept development.

Process Improvement

  • Help identify inefficiencies in design or operational processes.

  • Suggest and implement improvements under supervision.

Team Collaboration

  • Attend team meetings and contribute to project discussions.

  • Communicate with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, quality).

Skills:

  • CAD Proficient using CAD tools like Solidworks

  • Engineering analysis like Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and thermal management

  • Technical communication – how to translate the information by email or perform technical presentation

  • The basic project management fundamentals – planning & keeping timeline

  • Exposed to industry standard & practices

  • Working in R&D environments with dynamic engineering operations

  • Knowledgeable in equipment design techniques and tools

  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum system design and operation

  • Knowledge in design & operation for clean room environment

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering
