Job Objectives:

The Senior Corrosion Engineer will support the delivery of corrosion and materials engineering activities as part of a broader asset integrity management programme for major oil and gas operating assets.

The role will be responsible for undertaking corrosion assessments, supporting integrity studies, developing technical deliverables and providing engineering expertise to multidisciplinary teams involved in the operation and maintenance of oil and gas facilities.

The successful candidate will work as part of Wood's Iraq team and contribute to the ongoing integrity, reliability and performance of critical production assets.

Nationality Requirement: This position is open to Iraqi nationals only.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for a dedicated construction package, leading all phases from planning to execution while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Project Construction Coordinator to prepare, plan, organize, and execute safely construction activities.
  • Assist in tracking project package progress, identifying and addressing any issues or delays, controlling construction budgets and schedules, quality control, and safety, and providing regular updates to the management.
  • Support in managing and coordinating contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring adherence to project schedules and specifications, and ensuring timely availability of materials and resources.
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve construction issues and challenges, applying problem-solving skills to maintain project continuity and efficiency.
  • Ensure all construction works are carried out as per the plans, schedule, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders when required.
  • Prepare and draft meeting minutes on various topics discussed during projects meetings, ensuring accuracy, and capturing key points for reference and decision-making purposes.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and reports on diverse subjects to communicate project progress, updates, construction feasibility and findings to both management and site personnel, assisting the project construction manager in conveying information effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and insights, facilitating the preparation of comprehensive reports for management review and decision-making.

Expected:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with significant exposure to construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and industry best practices within the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple activities and interfaces effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret project plans, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary and cross-functional project team.
  • Experience acting as an interface between different technical disciplines, departments, and international teams.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
