Full job description
LOCATION: Vancouver and Lower Mainland, BC
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, Permanent
At Maven, we build what communities depend on — power, water, gas, and other essential systems that keep communities connected and thriving. Our success is driven by our people: motivated professionals who bring expertise, collaboration, and commitment to every project.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Construction Safety Officer to support our safety inspection services.
The Construction Safety Officer will conduct site safety inspections and support the effective implementation of occupational health and safety requirements on municipal construction and operational sites. The successful candidate will identify hazards, document findings, communicate corrective actions, and help ensure that site activities comply with WorkSafeBC regulations, Client requirements, project-specific safety plans, and recognized industry practices.
· Completion of a recognized Construction Safety Officer training program.
· Eligibility for, or current certification as, a Construction Safety Officer through ASTTBC or an equivalent recognized organization.
· Post-secondary education or additional training in occupational health and safety, construction, civil technology, or a related discipline is an asset.
· Experience conducting safety inspections on construction, municipal infrastructure, civil works, utilities, or operational sites.
· Working knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Vancouver Building By-law, applicable fire-code requirements, and construction safety practices.
· Familiarity with municipal infrastructure activities such as excavation, traffic control, confined-space work, utility construction, pumping stations, sewer systems, landfill operations, and work near the public is an asset.
· Strong hazard-recognition, report-writing, documentation, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining professional, collaborative relationships with clients, contractors, supervisors, and workers.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting or document-management systems.
· Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and the ability to travel to project sites throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
· Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, nights, or weekends based on active construction schedules.
· Current first aid, WHMIS, confined-space, fall-protection, traffic-control, or related construction safety training is an asset.
· Do meaningful work – Deliver projects that build what communities depend on, from power and water to gas and other essential infrastructure across Western Canada.
· Grow professionally without big corporate overhead – Take on the complexity and professional challenges of large-scale projects while enjoying the efficiency, agility, and support of a mid-sized team.
· Be part of a values-driven culture – Guided by our Maven 6 values — Safety, Sharing, Standards, Speed, Solutions, and Stretch — and strengthened by our People Cornerstones, we foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous growth.
· Enjoy competitive rewards – Receive fair, competitive compensation and comprehensive health benefits that reflect the value you bring.
· Invest in your development – Access training, peer coaching, team meetings, and mentorship to support your career progression.
· Balance work and life – Benefit from a flexible hybrid model that blends remote work with meaningful in-person collaboration at our North Vancouver office.
· Give back with us – Contribute to our Share program, where we partner with local organizations and create volunteer opportunities for our team.
· Join a growth story – Maven has been recognized as one of Western Canada’s fastest-growing professional services firms, with a vision to become the trusted, industry-leading partner in infrastructure delivery.
