Position Overview & Organizational Relationships: Under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services, the Program Supervisor takes a key leadership role in the day-to-day operations and therapeutic functioning of the residential program. This role actively manages the physical, emotional, and treatment needs of the children in care and serves as a vital member of the Residential Treatment Team.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher in Human Services or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience: Professional experience working with children who exhibit emotional, behavioral, or interpersonal challenges.
De-escalation & Crisis Care: Experience with non-physical de-escalation techniques, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), and trauma-responsive care. Must demonstrate the ability to perform effectively and interventionally under crisis conditions.
Driver’s License & Age Requirement: Valid New York State Driver’s License with a clean driving record (actively licensed for at least 1 year required). Must be at least 21 years of age to meet agency auto insurance carrier requirements.
Vehicle Operations: Ability to legally operate an 8–15 passenger automatic transmission vehicle. Agency Van Certification required within 90 days of hire.
Medication Administration: Certification to administer medication required (must successfully complete the St. Catherine’s Medication Certification Course upon hire).

Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead shift operations and work within a shared decision-making model alongside multidisciplinary teams, client families, and external service providers.
Therapeutic Engagement: Demonstrates a warm, empathetic, and compassionate approach to childcare while setting appropriate boundaries and limits.
Communication & Documentation: Strong oral and written communication skills with high attention to detail for managing agency and regulatory documentation.
Ethics & Confidentiality: Full access to Protected Health Information (PHI) requires strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines, client confidentiality, and high personal integrity.
Adaptability & Resilience: Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of maintaining emotional composure and making sound independent decisions in dynamic environments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Leadership & Staff Supervision
Assist the Director of Residential Services in training, mentoring, and supervising Shift Leaders and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
Provide direct supervision, modeling, and performance management for shift staff, including conducting regular supervisions and administering progressive discipline in coordination with HR and leadership.
Ensure staff understand, adhere to, and maintain documentation aligned with agency policies, procedures, and therapeutic standards.
Conduct daily reviews of staffing assignments, pertinent shift logs, and operational communications with Shift Leaders and DSPs.
Client Care & Therapeutic Support
Implement agency standards to maintain a child-centered, therapeutic treatment environment.
Oversee the implementation of children’s treatment plans as directed by the Treatment Team; ensure precise documentation of all services provided.
Maintain direct sight-and-sound supervision of children while in ratio, actively participating in their daily routines and therapeutic activities.
Plan and execute daily client activities that promote active engagement, in collaboration with the Director, Activities Coordinator, and Shift Leaders.
Conduct post-crisis response steps as necessary or assigned.
Participate in client-centered meetings, including Service Plan Reviews, 30- and 90-day Treatment Reviews, CSE, and HMT meetings.
Operations, Safety & Facilities
Ensure Shift Leaders conduct and submit weekly facility inspection reports and execute monthly fire drills (minimum of one every 30 days).
Assist leadership in monitoring the safety, housekeeping, and physical maintenance of the building, grounds, and vehicles, including submitting maintenance work orders.
Oversee clothing inventories and personal care items for children; shop for program and client needs as required.
Assist with meal preparation, service, and cleanup as needed.
Communications & Vehicle Safety
Facilitate clear, effective team communication, ensuring Shift Leaders complete all Daily Logs and critical incident reports prior to the end of each shift.
Coordinate client transportation arrangements with Shift Leaders.
Obtain and maintain Agency Van Certification; perform required vehicle inspections, monitor fuel levels, maintain logs, and report repair needs to the Transportation Supervisor and Director.
Training, Certifications & Professional Conduct
Maintain active certifications in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Medication Administration, Agency Van Operations, and annual Food Handler training.
Administer medications according to agency protocols when assigned, and oversee staff responsible for medication distribution.
Attend all mandated agency trainings, staff meetings, and house management meetings on time.
Maintain dependable attendance and foster positive working relationships with colleagues, client families, and external partners.
Perform additional position-related duties as assigned by leadership.
