As a Principal Technical Consultant, Geologist (Casual) based preferably in Toronto or Vancouver, you will serve as a senior technical leader, delivering expert resource estimation solutions across primary mineral deposits and tailings storage facilities.

This is a casual employment contract, with work offered on an as-needed basis. Assignments and hours will vary depending on business and client demand and are not guaranteed. Lead mineral resource estimation projects to the highest professional and ethical standards.
Deliver tailings resource estimation and characterisation work, supporting clients evaluating tailings storage facilities as secondary resources.
Drive innovation in geological modelling and data validation methodologies.
Serve as a trusted advisor and Qualified Person under NI 43-101 Standards.
Strengthen client relationships while expanding ERM's technical footprint across Canada.
Contribute technical leadership to multidisciplinary project teams operating in diverse jurisdictions.
Support responsible resource development by providing high-quality geological interpretation and estimation solutions.
What You'll Bring
Required
Bachelor's degree in Geology or equivalent experience.
Professional Geologist designation in at least one Canadian province.
6+ years of experience in geological and mining environments.
Experience with precious, base, and critical minerals across various jurisdictions.
Advanced technical knowledge of resource estimation processes and international reporting standards, including CIM, JORC, and SAMREC.
Demonstrated experience in tailings resource estimation, including characterisation, sampling design, modelling, and estimation of tailings storage facilities as secondary or reprocessable resources.
Proficiency with mining software such as Leapfrog Edge, Datamine, Isatis, and similar platforms.
Strong organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Flexibility regarding work hours and project locations.
Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
Preferred
MSc or PhD in Geology highly regarded.
10+ years of experience preferred in geological and mining environments.
Experience acting as a Qualified Person under NI 43-101, SK 1300 and JORC.
Experience reporting tailings resources under recognised codes and familiarity with the geochemical and geotechnical considerations specific to tailings reprocessing.
Familiarity with Canadian regulatory frameworks and global reporting codes.
Key Responsibilities
Validate geological data and review QA/QC procedures.
Develop 3D geological models and perform geostatistical analyses.
Conduct grade interpolation and validate estimation results.
Prepare Mineral Resource estimation reports aligned with CIM, JORC, NI 43-101, and SK1300 standards.
Undertake tailings resource characterisation and estimation, including review of historical deposition records, sampling programmes, and domaining of tailings facilities.
Conduct site visits and laboratory inspections across domestic and international locations.
Support corporate assignments, including due diligence and technical assessments.
Integrate resource evaluation activities with ERM's global divisions and multidisciplinary teams.
Mentor and develop technical teams across Canada.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and legislative requirements.
For the Principal Technical Consultant, Geologist (Casual)position, the anticipated hourly base pay is $54.66–$66.25 (CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay subject to the sole discretion of ERM and its policies and procedures(casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
