Full job description
Facilities Supervisor
GAP Ministries | Full-Time | Salary/Exempt | $52,000–$75,000 DOE
Do you enjoy fixing things, solving problems, and making a difference?
GAP Ministries is looking for an experienced Facilities Supervisor who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get to work!
This is a hands-on working supervisor position. You will spend your time both doing the work and leading others—maintaining facilities, making repairs, solving problems, coordinating projects, and helping ensure our properties are safe, functional, clean, and ready to serve the children and families entrusted to our care.
What You'll Do
As Facilities Supervisor, you will help care for GAP Ministries’ many properties, including foster care group homes, visitation facilities, offices, warehouses, retail stores, and other ministry locations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Performing hands-on maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and improvement projects.
Working with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building, landscaping, and general maintenance needs.
Maintaining properties so they remain safe, functional, clean, and inspection ready.
Supervising and coordinating the work of facilities employees and subcontractors.
Organizing and overseeing facility-related volunteer groups and projects.
Coordinating maintenance and repairs for GAP Ministries vehicles.
Maintaining tools, equipment, maintenance vehicles, supplies, and inventory in a safe and orderly condition.
Responding to maintenance requests and changing priorities throughout the day.
Managing emergency facility situations and helping ensure the continued operation of group homes and visitation facilities.
Looking for ways to save money, improve efficiency, and maintain facilities without unnecessary expense.
Assisting with donations, supplies, errands, projects, and other facility-related needs.
Providing leadership, direction, and support to the facilities team while leading by example.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is dependable, resourceful, practical, and willing to work with their hands. You should be comfortable troubleshooting problems, learning new skills, working independently, and staying calm when priorities change.
The ideal candidate will have:
High school education and some college, related certifications, and approximately 5 years of experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Strong hands-on skills, particularly in areas such as drywall, painting, tile, framing, and electrical work.
The ability to identify problems and determine practical solutions.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
The ability to supervise employees, volunteers, and subcontractors.
A commitment to safety, quality, and responsible use of ministry resources.
The ability to work independently with little supervision while also working well as part of a team.
A willingness to continue learning and developing technical skills.
A valid driver's license and a clear 60-month driving record.
More Than a Job
At GAP Ministries, the work we do matters. Every repair, project, clean-up, and maintenance task helps create safe and functional places where children and families can be served.
We are looking for someone who will serve with purpose, lead by example, and take pride in caring for what God has entrusted to GAP Ministries.
The right candidate will continually grow in leadership and spiritual maturity while modeling GAP Ministries’ values through professionalism, integrity, ethical conduct, teamwork, and Christ-like character.
Physical & Work Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position. The Facilities Supervisor must be able to stand, walk, climb, crouch, crawl, use ladders, perform manual labor, and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. The position may involve exposure to mechanical equipment, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and other maintenance-related environments.
Important Requirements
GAP Ministries is a Christian, Equal Opportunity Employer and drug-free workplace. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required background checks, Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card requirements, drug screening, physical/fit-for-duty examination, employment verification and reference checks, and other applicable hiring requirements. First Aid/CPR and required ministry training must also be completed and maintained.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with flexibility to respond to emergencies that may occur outside normal business hours.
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Pay: $52,000–$75,000 per year, depending on education, experience, skills, and qualifications.

GAP's mission is simple: Standing in the GAP for those in need. Bringing help to children, healing to families, and hope to the community.
GAP has been an advocate for children and at-risk populations since 1999, serving in 3 core areas:
Children: GAP daily cares for children and teens in the foster system who have experienced abuse and neglect in family-oriented group homes.
Family: GAP licenses foster caregivers to address a growing need. GAP serves the families of children in foster care by providing a safe place for supervised visitation between parents and their children with the goal of a healthy reunification when possible.
Community: GAP provides food and basic need items to men, women, and children through partnerships with over 35 nonprofits and churches through our Community Warehouse. The 05 Market has free and greatly reduced fresh produce and pantry staples, to help stretch the grocery budget for families. The GAP Kitchen prepares 1000+ meals each week for low-income school children, the elderly, and other at-risk individuals. Career Plus Career and Life Development Program allows individuals coming from a difficult past to increase their value in the job market, with skills and continued support.
Our goal is to continually evolve in these areas to Stand in the GAP for the children we serve, with the strong hope and sincere desire that generational cycles of poverty, addiction, and a growing foster care system can be healed ONE LIFE at a time. Breaking these cycles through the power of God can lead to HEALTHIER FAMILIES and this creates TRANSFORMED COMMUNITIES.
